Yucca filamentosa English Names: Adams needle, Adams needle and thread, Thready yucca,Eves thread, Thread and needle, Eves darning needle, Bears thread, Beargrass, Silk grass. SOUTHEASTERN U. S. A. MID-JUNE THROUGH JULY CREAMY-white flowers like very small Magnolia blossoms, bornependently in long loose spikes on erect stems four to six feet high.Leaves evergreen in a clump at the base of the flower stalks, long andnarrow, about one inchwide, very sharplypointed, stiff and erecttoward the centre, butrecurving at the outsideof the clump, grayishgreen with threadlikefibres along the edges.Excellent for formalclumps in the herbaceousborder or for plantingagainst a background ofshrubbery. A perfectly hardyperennial of easiest cul-ture in any well-drainedsoil, in sun. Being adesert plant, it grows wellin barren places, andthrives best in sandyloam. Propagate by seed,offsets, or by stem cut-tings.
