rring hard all the time andexpecting a great deal of praise and attention. Dorotheas home is a short mile away. It is adelightful house, with beautiful wild ground and gardenall round it. Pussies are much loved there. Acurious thing happened. One morning two tiny long-haired kittens, one black and one red, were found onthe doorstep, crying with hunger and begging to betaken in. Where they came from, or how they foundtheir way to the house will always be a mystery, forthey were baby things, almost too small to have lefttheir mother. No other house is near, and whatwonderful instinct guided the little waifs to that kinddoor no one will ever know. They were cold andstarving and bedraggled, as if they had travelled far.They were taken in and fed and cleaned and givenwarm beds, and very soon became quite strong andlively.
