Most of us havedistressing memories of the formal parlors of our child-hoods days but we have surely had time to live down suchrecollections so let us have back the good old name andbanish all visions of a starched and deadly chamber ofmid-Victorian furniture horrors enveloped in an atmosphereof foolish mid-Victorian artificiality and priggishness, aplace where the tables and chairs had elegies andlimbs—heaven knows some of them had little enough
