Hon. Daniel Fish, J. W. Burton andthe late prince of Lincoln collections, MajorW. H. Lambert of Philadelphia. Mr.Fowlers book should be owned by everyLincoln collector. It has a handsomely en-graved title page with a Lincoln portrait, andthe Lincoln bookplates of Judd Stewart, H.Alfred Fowler and J. B. Oakleaf are usedto embellish the text. A blank Lincolnbookplate is laid in loosely to be put in theowners copy. The printing is all that couldbe desired. Trees atsd How They Grow. By G.Clarke Xuttall. Xew York: Cassell andCompany: 1913. Cloth, 8vo. Illus-trated in color and by halftones. 184pp. Price, $2.00. Each chapter in Trees and How TheyGrow is a history of a species and is sointerestingly written that the book cannotfail to be gratefully received as a worthyaddition to the garden library. In commonwith too many modern books of the sortMr. Corkes volume lacks an index. It seemsextraordinary that publishers occasionallyoverlook the fact of the great importanceof an index to a book.
